Beacon is an interactive part in Scrap Mechanic.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Beacons assist in navigating a Survival Mode world by providing waypoints. The icon and color of the waypoint can be configured.
Usage[edit | edit source]
Interacting with a placed Beacon brings up a GUI. This GUI contains 24 icons and 8 colors, which can be used to customize the Beacon's waypoint. The waypoint will be visible from anywhere on the map, allowing for easier navigation. Each waypoint can be toggled on or off remotely using the Logbook.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Prior to the addition of the Beacon, players used to use the dropped backpack icon as a waypoint. This was done by dying at the desired location with an item in their inventory, and never retrieving the item so that the bag, and thus the icon, persisted. It seems that this strategy directly inspired the Beacon.
- This strategy was created due to the lack of a map or any other type of in-game navigational aid. The need for such an aid became apparent to Axolot, so they decided to add the Beacon to replace this strategy, providing a much more intuitive and customizable method of creating waypoints.
