Damaged Crate is a destructible object in Scrap Mechanic.

DamagedCrate

A Damaged Crate.

Overview

The Damaged Crate is a glowing green crate that can be broken open with the Sledgehammer to obtain items. They are commonly found scattered around the world in Survival Mode, and can also be found inside Ruins.

The Spudgun, Spud Shotgun, and Spudling Gun can also break Damaged Crates, though this is arguably a waste of Potatoes.

Spawning

Damaged Crates have a chance to respawn when the area is loaded, after a delay of five in-game days. This chance depends on its location.

Damaged Crates near the Crash Site never respawn.

Damaged Crates out in the open (i.e. not near or inside structures) and in Warehouses have a 2% chance to become a Golden Damaged Crate, except for crates at the Crash Site.

Drops

All Damaged Crates drop 1-3 items. First, an item from "Select One" is chosen, occupying a slot if an item was selected. Any remaining slots are chosen from "Random Loot".

Trivia

  • The Damaged Crate is referred to as a "Loot Crate" in the game's script files.
  • Damaged Crates were originally blue, as seen in Devblog 18.
  • The existence of Damaged Crates is explained by flying cargo carriers, which dropped them onto the ground. This is why they are damaged.
