Electric Engine is an interactive part in Scrap Mechanic.
Overview[ | ]
Powers bearings. An engine with fixed power and adjustable speed. Can be connected to a driver’s seat or triggers.
Usage[ | ]
After you place the engine, you must turn it on in order for it to work. Keep in mind, if you plan on having the engine controlled by a Driver's Seat or a trigger, you should connect it before starting the engine. If you connect an engine to bearings without connecting the engine to a control part, the engine is active, and if it isn't on the Lift, the engine will automatically start. Removing a connected control part will automatically start the engine as well.
Press E on the engine to bring up the GUI. Click and drag the slider (or press the keys to move forward/backward) to any position above OFF to activate it. The slider controls the speed of the engine, not the power (power is constant). For this reason, the engine is good for making faster, lighter vehicles. It has difficulty moving heavier vehicles, though it accelerates and decelerates much more quickly than the Gas Engine.

Speed and RPM[ | ]
The speeds of the electric engine are multiples of the Fibonacci sequence. For example, speed 4 + speed 5 = speed 6. The almost constant speed the Electric Engine tries to maintain is defined in the game files, and experiments confirm these numbers. Please note: The engine does slow down when enough force is exerted to over-power the engine. This means the measurements listed below might not be representative for every situation because the tested parameters were observed and varied in a controlled environment.
