Radio is an item in Scrap Mechanic.

Overview[]

Plays music when activated.

Can be found in File Cabinets located in Warehouse Offices.

Usage[]

Press E to activate the radio.

When connected to a trigger, the radio activates when the trigger is activated.

When connected to a Driver's Seat, Seat, Driver's Saddle, Saddle, Toilet, or Bathtub, the Radio will be automatically activated when sitting in the seat. It is still treated like a connected Switch or Button, taking up a connection slot for the seat. However, the Radio cannot be toggled by pressing its associated button. Sometimes, the Radio is activated upon removing the connected seat. This appears to be a bug.

Music[]

The Radio plays a loop of six songs, in the following order:

  • Jazz
  • "Country"
  • Rock
  • Retro
  • Slow Jazz
  • Techno

A full loop lasts 22 minutes and 20 seconds.

Trivia[]

  • The item description for the Radio reveals that the radio system has been hijacked by Robots and is now "transmitting classic selections from their deeply unusual taste in music". Apart from certain mechanical noises, the songs resemble those found on modern-day Earth.
  • Two radios on at the same time may be slightly off, but will always play the same song.
  • Between songs, robots can be heard moving or talking, sometimes speaking directly to the mechanic.
    • Between Rock and Retro
      • Robot 1: We have control of the radio! [mechanical laughter]
      • Robot 2: And we will play our favorite songs... over, and over, and over again! [beeping] [garble]
    • Servo noises can be heard between Retro and Slow Jazz.
    • A robot noise can be heard near the end of Slow Jazz.
    • Between Slow Jazz and Techno
      • Robot 1: Have you found the mechanic yet?
      • Robot 2: No.
      • Robot 1: Find him, find him!
    • A noise that sounds like a tape rewinding is heard shortly after Jazz starts.
    • Between Jazz and "Country"
      • Robot: Mechanic cannot escape! [beeping] [servo noises]
      • Rock starts before being switched to "Country", with robot noises before the change.
      • "Seven, seven" can be heard very faintly at the end of these robot noises.
    • Between "Country" and Rock
      • [horn sounds] [garble] Robot: Soon, we will find you! Mechanic cannot escape! [mechanical laughter] [garble]
  • A clean version of Techno is used in some of Axolot's official videos, including the introduction videos for the Paint Tool, Weld Tool, and Piston.
