Ruin is a structure in Scrap Mechanic.
Overview[]
Ruins are red-tinted, run-down buildings with multiple floors that can be found throughout the map in Survival Mode.
Ruins have many different variations. Taller Ruins can be especially rewarding.
Contents[]
Ruins contain Damaged Crates and Ruin Chests. Golden Damaged Crates may be found as well, often on the roof of taller Ruins and very rarely on the roof or upper floors of shorter Ruins.
Haybots spawn inside or near Ruins.
Piles of hay can be found inside Ruins. These can be destroyed with the Sledgehammer, sometimes revealing a Damaged Crate.
Strategy[]
It is advised to move slowly, as Haybots can surprise the Mechanic and attack them.
Sometimes, Ruins do not have a path to an upper floor. The Mechanic can use their Lift or a Seat to help them reach these floors.
Crates may appear in unusual places, such as on top of a wall on the roof. Also, if the Ruin has a radio antenna on the roof, it may have a crate on it.
Trivia[]
- The color pallete of Ruins was originally to be blue and lime. This may have been changed to make Ruins look more aged and rusted.
- At night, Moths will appear in front of the lights in interiors.
